Greetings! Upon joining Malvern Instruments as the new Director of Marketing – Americas earlier this year, I was thrilled to learn more about the many education and customer support activities that Malvern offers. In my experience, there is nothing quite as valuable as opportunities that provide genuine interactions between customers and product specialists. That being said, I am excited to announce our next series of interactive workshops meant to help you in your characterization needs.
Light scattering and GPC/SEC technologies: theory and applications

Red Nose DAY lasted a WEEK at Malvern Instruments … ! Malvern’s younger family member Luke Duffy (11 mths) assesses the properties in his Red Nose!
Teams such as Malvern Maniacs, Secret Lemonade Drinkers and Tews Company, got together to think of inventive/innovative ways to raise money for Comic Relief. In addition to the cake selling and raffles with super prizes, Malvern employees excelled themselves with games such as the Pick-a-Pope Sweepstake (116 cardinals were up for grabs!), Guess the Costume (an employee dressed in national costume) and Pin the Nose …

At Malvern we take very seriously our responsibility to the local communities in which we operate, wherever we are in the world. In the UK this is something especially close to our hearts as not only is our company named after the town in which it was founded, it is where we have our global headquarters today. This means we have been part of the community in the town of Malvern, and the wider area of Worcestershire, for more than four decades.
Malvern Instruments as a company, and the individuals within …

Happy Birthday Malvern!
It is hard to believe: today marks the first anniversary of our move to the custom-built Center of Excellence for our Separations product line. While it seemed that we could almost ‘get lost’ in the 22,000 square feet facility just a year ago it did not take very long to fill the space with people, equipment, and fresh ideas. It still is Malvern’s “youngest” site, and has thus seen a stream of visitors both from our other locations around the US and the world as well as from …

It brings together scientists from academia, a wide variety of industries and manufacturers of analytical equipment, to provide the participants of Isranalytica a total analytical chemistry platform where scientific information is exchanged and cutting-edge developments are introduced by internationally renowned scientists.
The accompanying exhibition, showcases the latest advances in instrumentation and analytical techniques and is the largest chemistry related exhibition in Israel attracting more than 3000 participants from academia and industry. ISRANALYTICA is the …

Thinking back to those early design meetings that the development team here at Malvern undertook at the inception of the Kinexus rheometer project, one of our key aims was to deliver a new rheometer platform that enabled total flexibility of control – to provide unique test capabilities that went beyond those previously available on rotational rheometer systems.
Market feedback was telling us that Industrial users would like the option to run under Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)-driven protocols, with ‘locked down’ tests that included specific user instructions and inputs to meet their …

A great deal happened in 2012. CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) announced the discovery of the Higgs Boson, London hosted a spectacular Olympics and the Malvern blog notched up its 2nd birthday! From lasers and light scattering to viscometers and volcanoes, it was an incredible year at Malvern. So, as we begin 2013 I’d like to say a big thank you to all the authors who have contributed to our blog and to making it such a success. I’m looking forward to reading more this year, from the serious …

I was reading in New Scientist (November 10th, 2012 page 5) of the discovery of a red star identical, it appears, to the star Superman’s home planet, Krypton. Red dwarf LHS2520, discovered by astronomer Neil deGrasse Tyson (Yes! What a name!), is 27 light years from earth and the right, size, color, and distance to fit in with the Superman legend. This got me to thinking, as I stared into the heavens that weekend, as to how tiny we are in relation to the size of the universe. Yes, I …
